What is the Grand Club?
The Grand Club kicks off the first phase of donations for the new Steinway. Donors of $1,000 and above will be considered members  of the “Grand Club.”  Members of the prestigious Grand Club will be invited to an exclusive tour of the Steinway factory in New York City as well as invited to help select our new Steinway Grand Piano. All members of the Grand Club will be invited to attend the private reception when the piano is delivered.

What is the Key Club?
Donors who purchase a key on the piano will be considered members of the “Key Club.”  Members purchasing keys totaling $1000 or more will also be promoted to members of the Grand Club.  This is a fantastic opportunity for students, parents and members of the community to become involved in various levels.  Parts of the piano will be “for sale” (keys, strings, tuning pegs, bench, legs, etc.) at various levels.  This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to be involved.

Who will get an invitation to the private reception?
All members of the Grand Club, the Key Club, Executive Members of the Music Parents Association, School Board members and other select dignitaries will be invited to a private reception and concert on the new Steinway piano and will be publically recognized.   This date will be set as the time comes closer to presentation to the Marple Newtown School District.

How much money needs to be raised to purchase this new Steinway Grand Piano?
There is no small price to pay for securing a necessary piece of musical equipment that will far outlast any competition, a Steinway Grand Piano.  We will be looking to raise nearly $90K over the next year and look forward to making a presentation of this piano at the 2014 Gala Concert.

How much will this piano be used?
The Performing Arts Center has a least 20 performances each year.  The piano will be used during performances of the Band, Choir and Orchestra, as well as other special performances and guest artists.

How will the new Steinway be secured and necessary upkeep be handled?
A secure, locked location has been established for the new piano. It will be tuned and adjustments made throughout the year as part of the school district’s annual repair budget.

How will the piano be selected?
Members of the Grand Club will be offered the opportunity to help tour the Steinway Factory in New York City and to select the piano.  Since only 2,000 pianos are manufactured each year in its NY facility, it is very likely that our piano is still being handcrafted.

Who gets to play the piano first?
All donors names will be put into a “hat” for a chance to be the first to play the new instrument at the private reception.

Are contributions tax-deductible?
The Marple Newtown Music Parents Association (MNMPA) is a federally recognized 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. All contributors will be given a letter acknowledging their donation. The MNMPA is also able to accept corporate matching donations under the 501 (c) (3) regulations.
